It is with great pleasure that we will be honoring Susan Sorokolit, faithful volunteer, enthusiastic advocate, and gifted relationship builder, with our 2015 Lifetime Service Award at this year’s FCS Gala, “E Komo Mai o Hawaii,” or Welcome to Hawaii, Saturday, October 24 at the Navesink Country Club.
Susan has been instrumental in introducing many new friends to FCS, engaging them in the agency’s mission and encouraging their help and support. She has broadened FCS’s visibility in the community and raised untold dollars for our programs and services. Several years ago, Susan helped elevate the agency’s relationship with Rumson Country Day School, a long-standing Operation Sleighbells partner, by facilitating an interactive presentation for students that focused on the importance of helping those in need in our community through volunteering. Her love of Operation Sleighbells has now passed to her children, making it an annual holiday project that involves the entire Sorokolit family.
Despite her very busy family life, Susan served on the FCS Board of Directors for five years and as Board Secretary for two of those years. She currently sits on the Board Governance Committee as a community member. While participating on the Fund Development Committee, she co-hosted and organized events that acquainted people with the agency. Susan chaired the 9-Hole Women’s Golf Outing, chaired the Gala twice, co-chaired Gala Underwriting, and this year is co-chairing the Gala Raffle. And if that is not enough, many of her efforts were undertaken while she and her husband Bob were reconstructing the entire first floor of their home after it was flooded during Hurricane Sandy. She never missed a beat.
We thank Susan for the untold hours she has dedicated to FCS; we thank both Susan and Bob for their generous philanthropic support of the agency; and we are most grateful to the entire Sorokolit
family, including Nicole and Gene Croddick, Amy and Tim McCooey, Beth and Matt Stencel and the ten Sorokolit grandchildren for sharing Susan with us.
