The FCS Thrift Boutique in Long Branch will be closed indefinitely due to fire. The blaze, which broke out in the upstairs apartment of the building at 307 Branchport Road on July 7th, was contained to the upstairs unit and no one was injured, but the resulting smoke and water damage forced the agency to temporarily suspend business. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Joanne L. Sadowsky of Manalapan to the FCS Board of Directors. Recently retired as a Director of Contract Management & Compliance with Novo Nordisk Inc., Ms. Sadowsky is currently on the faculty of the 340B University where she helps train pharmacists in special pricing mandated by the federal government. An accomplished speaker, presenter and fundraiser, Ms. Sadowsky looks forward to using her professional expertise to assist FCS. Learn more
Thank you to all those who supported our 2016 FCS Golf Classic! More than 100 golfers turned out for the event on Monday, June 27th at Navesink Country Club to compete for prizes and raise funds for essential community programs and services. Gorgeous weather, great food and outstanding auction items, coupled with the support and enthusiasm of FCS staff, volunteers, and the golfers who attended helped make this year’s fundraiser a huge success. Please join us on Sunday, July 10th at Monmouth Park Race Track in Oceanport for our annual fundraiser “Day at the Races.” Admission to this fun, family-friendly event is $50 per adult and $15 per child (ages 3-12) and includes clubhouse admission, program and a deluxe buffet lunch in a private, air conditioned Parterre Level I Turf Room. The event gets underway at noon. All money raised will help support FCS’s fourteen diverse programs and services, including homelessness prevention, home care and respite care. Home Health Aide jobs are one of the fastest growing occupations in the US. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that nationwide the number of Home Health Aide jobs will nearly double over the next decade as the number of individuals who need home care, predominantly seniors, also increases. Despite the demand, there remains a critical gap in filling Home Health Aide positions. We’re hoping to bridge that gap by offering free Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) training this summer to 20 qualified applicants. Learn more
