2018 Golf Classic raises 45K for essential services

Nearly 100 golfers turned out to support the 2018 FCS Golf Classic, Monday, August 27th at Rumson Country Club. The annual event, originally scheduled for July 23rd, had to be postponed this year due to rain. Golf committee co-chairs Tony Frigoletto and Mark Stoll said despite the rescheduled date, turnout was great and the event generated more than $45,000 for the agency; funds that will directly impact the 8,000 clients served annually by FCS. In addition to team and individual prizes, golfers competed for course prizes including a Hole-in-One Car sponsored by Ray Catena Auto Group, a Hit-the-Green Challenge sponsored by Wells Fargo and a $10,000 Hole-in-One Contest sponsored by Boynton & Boynton. During the evening’s awards dinner, prizes were awarded to the following golfers:

  • Low Gross / men: Chris Rowland, Steven Catena, Mike Noore and Scott Berski
  • Low Gross / women: Kathy Foos and Maria Manly
  • Low Net / men: Tony Frigaletto, Mark Stoll, Mat Skirkanich and Jack Skirkanich

  • Longest Drive: Joe Torcivia (Men’s) and Margaret O’Meara (Women’s)
  • Closest to the Pin: Jim Barry (Men’s) and Kathy Goullet (Women’s)

FCS CEO Delly Beekman thanked all of the participating golfers and sponsors.  “The agency provides an array of services to our neighbors in need, including those facing potential homelessness, long-term illness, neglect, abuse and exploitation,” Ms. Beekman explained. “Without the generous support from our community, FCS would struggle to meet the costs of caring for these individuals.”

The FCS Golf Classic has tremendous community support from golfers and businesses alike, many of whom have participated since the tournament’s inception. Major sponsors this year included:  The Mel Karmazin Foundation (Platinum Sponsor); RSI Bank (Platinum Sponsor); Lee Carr (Cart Sponsor); Gold Sponsors Tom & Kristin Saker, Charlie Komar & Sons, John & Debbie O’Donoghue, Jack Weakley, Scott & Janet Garley, Torcon, Inc., Wells Fargo, Colts Neck PBA, Empire Commercial Services, LP and Boynton & Boynton; Prudential Annuities (Driving Range Sponsor); Putting Green sponsor Paul and Judy Stach; and Watering Hole Sponsors New Jersey Natural Gas and The Putman Family.
