Several dozen FCS Certified Home Health Aides (CHHAs) gathered at Ocean Township Middle School in early September to refresh their skills and learn about the best methods for delivering care to clients. The annual Home Care Services in-service is required for all CHHAs as part the agency’s Home Care license. FCS has provided Home Care throughout Monmouth County for 60 years. The agency currently serves more than 150 clients, a majority of whom qualify for Home Care grant assistance. Led by our Director of Nursing Susan McDermott, RN, and taught by our team of supervising Registered Nurses and staff, the half-day training covered important health care topics like infection control, blood-borne pathogens, pain management and fall prevention. It also featured a special presentation on child and elder abuse by FCS Adult Protective Services Director Jessica Reyes, and a review by the Monmouth County Sherriff's Department of known telephone and internet fraud scams. Our CHHAs were grateful for the opportunity to hear from one another and share tips and advice. The day concluded with lunch and a raffle drawing. Thank you to all those who made the training a success!
