Annual FCS Golf Classic Raises more than 30K for FCS
LONG BRANCH, NJ, May 18, 2012 – More than 120 golfers hit the green at Deal Golf & Country Club on Monday, June 11 during the annual FCS Golf Classic & Women’s Shore Challenge benefiting Family & Children’s Service (FCS), Monmouth County’s oldest nonprofit social service agency. More than 40 women turned out for the morning 9-hole Women’s Shore Challenge and another 80 golfers signed on for the18-hole mixed golf outing in the afternoon, raising more than $30 thousand for the agency. Throughout the day, golfers were given the opportunity to compete for prizes, including a $10,000 Hole-in-One prize sponsored by Boynton & Boynton, and a brand new Mercedes Benz Hole-in-One prize, courtesy Ray Catena and Builders’ General.
Following the tournament, golfers enjoyed a cocktail hour on the clubhouse patio followed by an awards dinner, silent auction and 50-50 raffle. A Bon Jovi autographed guitar and an oil painting of Augusta National Golf Club were among the more than dozens luxury items available for bid.
FCS Board Chair Debbie O’Donoghue thanked this year’s golf committee, including co-chairs Ronald Gillaspie and Anthony Frigoletto, for their work planning and organizing this year’s event. “Family & Children’s Service has been meeting the needs of area residents for more than a century, but we couldn’t do it without the support of the local community,” O’Donoghue said. “We are grateful to everyone who donated their time, talent and resources to make this year’s Golf Classic a success.”
The annual Golf Classic raises critical funds to support FCS’s programs and services, including home care and caregiver relief, homelessness prevention, adult protective services, child literacy and the FCS Thrift Boutique in Long Branch.
