Hundreds Turn Out for Auxiliary Spring Luncheon & Fashion Show
Annual Event Raises Funds for Family & Children’s Service
LONG BRANCH, NJ, May 9, 2013 – More than 220 guests turned out in style to see and shop for the latest designer spring fashions at this year’s Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show, Wednesday, May 8, at Branches in West Long Branch. Hosted by the Navarumsunk Auxiliary, the annual event, now in its 56th year, raises funds for Family & Children’s Service (FCS), whose mission is to serve people at vulnerable times in their lives through education, intervention, care and counseling. The event is anticipated to have raised more than $10,000 for the benefit of FCS programs and services.
Auxiliary Co-Presidents Maureen Kachinski and Maureen Hintelmann, along with Immediate Past President Cynthia Mathews, chaired this year’s luncheon which featured a fashion boutique, 50/50 raffle and a chance auction with dozens of beauty, spa and home decor gift baskets. Always a highlight, the fashion show, hosted by Le Papillion boutique in Rumson, featured a collection of the latest spring jackets, purses, scarves and accessories from designers Eileen Fischer, Grace Chuang and others. Every piece was selected to complement the basic black, white or ivory wardrobe worn by each of the volunteer models, many of them Auxiliary members.
Founded in 1957, the Navarumsunk Auxiliary of FCS adopted its name from the Native American tribe that inhabited the Rumson Fair Haven peninsula. Since then, the group has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for FCS through the auxiliary’s annual luncheon and benefit bridge tournament which takes place each September. The auxiliary is always looking for new members and the luncheon is a great way to get acquainted with the organization and its dedicated volunteers.
